Gatsby’s party was entirely boring, although I did find out that he made his fortune as a bootlegger. Honestly, the bravery (or foolishness) of a man who becomes rich from illegal activities is boundless. I noticed that Gatsby himself has seemed to take a particular interest in my wife. Even though my jealousy is hypocritical, I couldn’t help feeling slighted at how ready she was to get away from me. I remember thinking that maybe it was time to call it off with Myrtle, and to start focusing more on Daisy. However, I was impressed by the large number of celebrities and film stars that attended Mr. Gatsby’s parties. Still, the whole event left me feeling disgruntled.
Tom,
ReplyDeleteJust like you, I am unaware of how and where Gatsby received his fortune, although, I do not believe that it is any of my business. Parties are for fun, not for revealing people’s dirty secrets. Gatsby enjoyed throwing parties and everyone loved going. Whether you condemn or commend the way he received his riches, his fortune was impressive and huge estate was a majestic site to see. Despite his mysterious and questionable past, Gatsby was a good man.
